I live in the Lake District, Cumbria. I have always been fascinated by the cycles and rhythms of nature. The landscape around North Cumbria with it's constantly changing weather and light provide me with the perfect subject matter. Recent trips to the west coast of Scotland and the Hebrides have also inspired much of my work. The special sense of scale , fresh colour and pure light have led me back to using more oil paint. I have also been working on a series of flower paintings which offer a very free ranging subject. The bold colours, smells and shapes, aswell as the organicness of flowers gives me a freedom to use the oil paint experimentally and I hope create "living" paintings which ooze with growth and vigour.

Joint show with Jonathan at the Anstey Galleries, Harrogate. Exhibition at Gossipgate Gallery, Alston. Manchester Art Show and Pinfold Gallery. Paintings continuously shown in our usual galleries. Also took part in the Art in Eden Studio Tour.

2004

Work on permanent display at the Northern Lights Gallery, Keswick; The Old Courthouse Gallery, Ambleside; Off The Wall Gallery, Corbridge, Northumberland and The Oban Art Gallery, Oban, Scotland.

1996-2003

Towards the end of '95 I moved to Keswick and have occupied various studios. Exhibitions have included the 'Arts Alive' Cumbria Year of the Arts Show in '96 as well as a solo show at the green House Gallery in Workington, and more recently being involved with the Eden Arts Studio Tour.
Other group shows have been at; Castlegate House Gallery,Northern Fells Gallery Ulldale, Upfront Gallery, Keswick Theatre by the Lake, Gossipgate Gallery, Keswick Museum, Lowes Court Gallery, Lakes Artists Exhibition Grasmere and the Pinfold Gallery.
My work can be permanently seen at the Northern Lights Gallery, Keswick; The Old Courthouse, Ambleside and Off The Wall, Corbridge, Northumberland.

1993-1995

After leaving art school I moved to Edinburgh and worked in a group studio. While there I exhibited in several galleries including the Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh; Art Exposure Gallery, Glasgow; Compass Gallery, Glasgow, as well as doing shows in other venues Like the Eastern General Hospital.

1989-1992

Being trained at art school in Cornwall, meant that my earliest exhibitions were in Cornish galleries notably the Penwith gallery St Ives as well as some work being shown in London at Fresh Art as well as the Cotton Centre.

Other Activities

These have included teaching Adult Education in Keswick, a mural with children at Threlkeld School as well as other after school art activities. In 1998 I did a four week mural project with local teenagers at the Theatre in Keswick, other murals have been for Derwent Bay Bears and the Recycling Centre Mooreclose Estate Workington. I also did an Art Workshop for the Scottish Arts Council at Stranraer Academy in 1993.
